Veterinarian Job Outlook

By: Rachel Harvey

When going into the field of veterinary medicine it is important to know the possible everyday tasks that would have to be done as well as the employment part of the job. Veterinarians can work in private clinics, laboratories,, and even work for the government. Whatever or wherever you work, it will all have one goal in mind. It will be to diagnose and treat animals for their problems. You could even work at a higher level doing research to find a way to solve all of these problems faced in day to day life for these animals. Whether it be pets, livestock, or wild animals.
.
In good news, it is predicted that the employment for veterinarians will grow 9% from 2014- 2024. Once you are employed it is estimated that the annual salary is about $88,000. This was estimated in May 2015. Specialized Veterinarians will earn a higher salary based on their work. Of course this all requires years of school and a lot of money.

Veterinary medicine may not be for everyone and it is possible to have other occupations while still working with animals. There is the possibility of a veterinary technician, zoologist, wildlife biologists, Veterinary assistants, and many more.

  1. I never knew vets made that much money. I also never knew some vets worked for the government. One last thing I didn't know was that zoologists were vets as well. I see that I'm just not aware of what vets do on a day-to-day basis. What form of veterinarian practice do you plan to pursue?
