Why do People think science is becoming less interesting in the World?

By:Nick Androvett

In today's world Science plays a major factor in how we go through life. It helps cure major diseases and helps lead us to living a better life. It also helps us find medicine and improve our lifestyles with the changing world around us. Science is basically everything around us, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat.
Science is one of the most important things in the world for us. If we didn’t have science in the world then there would be no way for us to live. This is why science is one of the most important things in the world for living things and our ecosystems. In today's generation and in the eyes of young children science isn't as interesting as it should be. This is an important problem due to how important science is to us.
In today's world social media is taking over our generation. Everywhere you go someone is either on their phone to talk or take pictures. We are all progressing throughout life fast and improving on our own inventions. This all has to do with science which in part has helped our world improve. Shows such as Dr.Med and the Big Band theory have provided a negative impact on children by showing that scientists can be nerds and has impacted their interest in a negative way towards science. Therefore, this is why people are less interested in science.

Why people love Vitamin C ?

by Roxy Zhang

Vitamin C is a water soluble Vitamin that naturally present in many foods like red peppers, broccoli, orange and leman. Unlike plants and most animals, human cannot synthesis Vitamin C by ourselves so we have to get it from our food. Vitamin C is an antioxidant vitamin which has a great impact on teeth healthy, gums and blood vessels and help human body absorb iron in food. The majority know that intake daily Vitamin C can intense their immune system and prevent them get sick. In fact, Vitamin C can do more than that. Generally speaking Vitamin C has four noted functions that affect are: antioxidant-activity; collagen synthesis; the cardiovascular system and the immune system.

The most obvious benefit of Vitamin C is intense human's immune system.  If one person intake Vitamin C everyday, then he/she is less likely get sick in flu season and dramatically decrease the risk of cancer. Also, Vitamin C can be bought from every markets in a pretty low price. In other words, it  prevents people to go to hospital and pay high medical bills.

When Vitamin C is digested, it becomes a water soluble antioxidant which is able to mop up free radial as soon as it generated as a result prevent or delay the development of cancer and helps prevention of aging.

Another function Vitamin C influences is synthesizing collagen, a significant protein used to make skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels and anti-aging skin. Not only synthesis collagen Vitamin C is also responsible for repairing teeth and bones. In a word, It helps people stay young and looks more beautiful.

This is because once arteries get clogged, not enough blood can get through it to heart as a result cause heart attack. Vitamin C is able to clean the arteries enable a healthy flow of blood to the heart and prevent those diseases happen.

Prompt #8 - A Hands On Experience

by Rachel Harvey

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to work closely with sheep assisting them with birth. This happened at the Michigan State sheep farm. As someone who wants to go into veterinary medicine, this was a really great experience for me. Being able to work hands on instead of looking at it through power points and pictures was in my opinion, the best way to learn.

Often veterinary medicine is depicted in movies and tv shows as someone who works in a clinic dealing with cats and dogs. There is a lack of representation for veterinarians who go out into the field whether it would be working with wildlife or farm animals. Veterinarians are needed for all of these animals and not just domesticated pets.

By having the ability to work alongside these animals I realized that there is a lot more career options than just working with dogs and cats. A veterinarian would have to know how to take care of all of these farm animals in the case of an emergency. Working on the farm is a totally different atmosphere. With these animals it was more hands off during birthing but having to know what to do in the case of an emergency.

During this hands on experience, I had the ability to view many live births as well as move and bond the lambs with their mother. I also got to weigh and log each lamb born. These are skills that would not be achievable with just classroom teachings. I have learned that this is very dirty work and not just clean cut as we are often exposed to in the media. This is very true for many professions that we see in the media. Rarely are they accurately represented mostly with the depth and many opportunities that each profession holds.
